4 Goals for Our 4th District
4for4

Economic Recovery
Strategic Actions:

    1. Help organize a regional economic development summit;
    2. Design incentives for local businesses to adopt green technologies;
    3. Recruit companies that will provide family wage jobs within District 4;
    4. Finance research and development to ensure sustainable economic growth.

"With my business ties I was able to convince large regional employers to endorse the City of Tacoma's application for an Economic Empowerment Zone. Now it is time to extend an incentive package to benefit District 4."

Affordable Healthcare
Strategic Actions:

    1. Advocate for access to high quality healthcare;
    2. Assist in securing funding for Family Support Services and Adult Day Health;
    3. Coordinate with providers to implement Preschool and Parish nurse programs;
    4. Identify community partners to develop "walk-in" and "after hours" clinics.

"While the Federal government overhauls healthcare, Washington's Basic Health is planning to eliminate 40,000 members. We need leaders knowledgeable in this complex policy area. As a former Healthcare Executive and advisor to the Washington State Legislature and Department of Health I will be a strong advocate for our community."

Infrastructure
Strategic Actions:

    1. Facilitate a community-owned planning process to prioritize development projects;
    2. Resolve transportation, storm water, garbage, and road maintenance issues;
    3. Advocate for high-quality and affordable family and special needs housing;
    4. Plan for pedestrian and bicycle paths and conservation of historic architecture and open space.

"The iconic arched 34th street bridges, built by my great grandfather, are a reminder of how well planned infrastructure can rejuvenate our community."

Public Safety:
Strategic Actions

    1. Support District 4 Community-based Services initiative;
    2. Advocate for additional police and fire protection services;
    3. Partner with Public Safety personnel to serve the needs of District 4;
    4. Work to improve disaster preparedness in our community.

"Public safety services must be designed to address our unique concerns and this should
entail extending weekend coverage of Police and Animal Control services."
